After 18 years of YCNL, and now at the beginning of our 19th season of planning, there’s nothing new to see here right? As the saying goes: “same old, same old”. What if I told you this is not only a NEW year but a year of NEW beginnings! Here’s the NEWs:
- NEW LOCATION. It’s been some time since we’ve been back in Corner Brook’s Civic Centre and we are thrilled to see YCNL impact the beautiful, west coast once again.
- NEW BRAND: We are also excited to unfold our rebrand of YCNL into the “Youth Collective Newfoundland and Labrador”. This is a NEW day for YCNL and we are getting ready to take it to a NEW level. Stay tuned for more info around our 2018 focus on events, community, leadership and global initiatives.
- NEW GUESTS: We are working on an incredible lineup for Thanksgiving Weekend and spoiler alert…some brand new ones…but that’s all I can say for now 😃.
- NEW THINGS: The greatest NEW things are available for us all to discover. God is a God of the NEW thing. He has endless creativity, opportunities, and possibilities at His disposal. We need to look with eyes of faith and take steps with bold confidence. Past mistakes, hurts, and regrets are no match for His grace and forgiveness. Old problems and pains are no comparison for His power and possibilities. God will do something NEW this year. That’s who He is. That’s how He operates. That’s what He will do.
In 1998 a few of us youth pastors and leaders decided to try something NEW. We believed that, although some great things were happening in youth ministry in our province, God wanted to do something NEW. It came with many questions, challenges, and yes, even criticisms. What we learned is that what’s ORIGINAL for us is ORDINARY for Him. He is always up to something NEW! Nineteen years seems like a long time running this amazing event. For God, it’s just beginning of the story. He’s got lots of NEW things up His sleeve!
For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
Isaiah 43:19 (NLT)
