Two more days, and no I didn’t get my YC math wrong…just two more days before the first game of the ALCS…GO JAYS! What a year its been for Canada’s team. Even one of our YC team leaders was so swept up in the Jays excitement he became semi-famous with his amazing Florida knuckleball sign! Could it be this is the year to end a 22-year drought and we will see the Jays crowned as Major League Baseball’s champion? We don’t know the outcome but I do know this nation will be cheering on the Jays in hopes they will win the 2015 World Series. (P.S. If the game is on during YC please stay focused on your work….but keep me updated on the score!)
This coming weekend we get to kick a victory celebration into high gear. Our Champion did more than win a series…He won our salvation. He has won the greatest victory of all time and defeated the greatest enemies of all humanity. Sin, hell, death, pain, sickness, despair, anxiety, hopelessness, fear, hate, injustice…they have all fallen before the feet of the “Champion of Heaven”. He loves us. He is for us. He has made a way. He has already gone before us into battle for this weekend and He has already WON! He is an UNSTOPPABLE Champion!
So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us? And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God’s chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us who was raised to life for us is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us. (Romans 8:31-34 The Message)
So no matter what is going on in your life today, no matter what we face this weekend, no matter what we face for the rest of our lives…with a victory shout we declare: If our UNSTOPPABLE God is for us who can be against us!
Prayer: Today, please pray for those who are in the area and need to find themselves at the Gander community centre with us this weekend! #YCNL
